Jägerprüfung Baden-Württemberg

Updated:

Responsible authority and types of Jagdschein

The Untere Jagdbehörde at the Landratsamt or the city administration is responsible for the Jagdschein in Baden-Württemberg. You therefore contact the Landratsamt or the city administration in your district or your urban district. The Untere Jagdbehörde issues your Jagdschein and is also responsible for renewing your Jagdschein. In Baden-Württemberg there are various types of Jagdschein such as the Jahresjagdschein, the Tagesjagdschein and the Jugendjagdschein. Before your visit, check the exact application documents and opening hours on the website of your responsible Untere Jagdbehörde.

Applying and the Jägerprüfung

You can also apply for the Jagdschein in Baden-Württemberg online via the state portal service-bw. You can find the online application on the website https://service-bw.de, where you will be guided through the process. For the initial issue of the hunting licence, you must first have successfully passed the hunter’s examination. An extension of your hunting licence is possible; you must submit a new application in good time before it expires. Check the exact application routes and required documents on the website of your competent Untere Jagdbehörde or on service-bw.

Fees and costs

The fees for the hunting licence in Baden-Württemberg are between 77 EUR and 283 EUR depending on the district. The administrative fees are set by the individual urban and rural districts themselves, which is why the amounts differ significantly. In addition to the administrative fee, a state-wide standard hunting levy is payable in Baden-Württemberg for each hunting year. Please calculate the examination fees charged by the Landesjagdverband separately, as these are not included in the hunting-licence fee. Ask your competent Untere Jagdbehörde about the exact fees for your hunting-licence application locally.

Processing time and deadlines

How to plan the processing time correctly:

  • The initial issue of your hunting licence generally takes up to 4 W weeks at the authority
  • An extension of your existing hunting licence is generally processed by the Untere Jagdbehörde within 2 W weeks
  • In individual cases, the processing of your hunting-licence application may also take 2 to 3 Monate
  • Submit your application and the required documents early
  • If you have urgent questions about the processing time, you can contact the competent Untere Jagdbehörde directly
