No-parking zone signs in Düsseldorf

Updated:

Everything about putting up the signs, the protocol, and their legal effect.

Who puts up the signs

The Amt für Verkehrsmanagement Düsseldorf provides no signs and also does not put them up. You must organise the signage yourself or commission a service provider.

You can hire signs from removal firms or roadworks service companies. Only work with a valid permit. Without it, the signs have no legal effect (§ 45 Abs. 6 StVO).

When to put up the signs

The signage must be put up at least three full days before the start . The day it is put up does not count.

Example: move on Friday → put up no later than Monday.
The signs must be clearly visible and properly positioned.

Do not forget the putting-up record

A putting-up record serves as proof that the no-parking zone was set up correctly. It becomes important if vehicles park despite the signage and you involve the Ordnungsamt or the police. Without documentation, enforcing the measure is often difficult.

Note at least:

  • Date and time
  • exact locations
  • ideally photos
