Step by step to the hunting licence

1. Find a hunting school and register: Look for a hunting school registered and recognised with Landesjagdverband Rheinland-Pfalz (LJV), as direct registration for the examination is not possible and only participants reported by hunting schools are admitted.
2. Complete hunting training: Complete the full hunting training at the chosen hunting school, which covers all examination subjects (wildlife biology, hunting operations, weapons law, game handling, hunting and nature conservation law, agriculture/forestry).
3. Apply for admission to the hunting examination: Apply for admission to the hunting examination via your hunting school in writing or online to the responsible Untere Jagdbehörde; the administrative fee for admission is 258,00 €.
4. Take the hunting examination: Take the three parts of the examination: first the shooting test, then the written test (statewide on the 2. Wednesday in May) and finally the oral-practical examination in the hunting ground.
5. Apply for a hunting licence: After passing the examination, submit the application for the issue of the hunting licence to the Untere Jagdbehörde responsible for your place of residence; submit all required documents (hunting examination certificate, proof of insurance, certificate of good conduct, passport photos, ID).
6. Receive the hunting licence: After the documents have been checked and the fees paid (17,00 € to 32,00 € administrative fee plus five times the Jagdabgabe), you will receive your hunting licence from the responsible authority.
