Balcony power plant with battery: the rules that apply
Short answer
A battery does not change the power limits of a plug-in solar device. Modules may total at most 2,000 watts, and the inverter at most 800 VA. You register the plug-in solar device in the Marktstammdatenregister. A stationary battery is registered there as its own unit.
RECOMMENDED PROVIDERS
Which power limits apply
The special rules apply to plug-in solar devices after the Solar Package of 16 May 2024. Several devices behind the same offtake point are added together. If the inverter can do more than 800 VA, the simplified special rules do not apply.
What the battery changes
The battery raises self-consumption. The allowed feed-in power stays 800 VA. Stationary batteries on the electricity grid must be entered in the Marktstammdatenregister. Portable packs and power stations are not registered.
Registration with a battery
Register the solar device within one month of commissioning. For plug-in devices inside the limits, a separate notice to the grid operator is not required. The Federal Network Agency forwards the register data to the grid operator.
How to register the device is in the MaStR registration tip. You will find an overview on the balcony power plant topic page. The Federal Network Agency explains the special rules for plug-in solar devices.
