No-Stopping Zone Tempelhof-Schoeneberg

You submit your application to the Road Traffic Authority Tempelhof-Schöneberg by email. The authority belongs to the Streets and Green Spaces Office (Straßen- und Grünflächenamt) of the district. Online applications are not possible in this district. How to apply for a no-stopping zone step by step:

1. Send an email to sv@ba-ts.berlin.de with all important information
2. Specify the exact location and desired duration of the no-stopping zone
3. State the reason for the no-stopping zone (for example moving or construction)
4. Wait for the authority's response with the traffic order

For your informal application (formloser Antrag) you need these details:

• Your complete address and contact information
• Exact street and house number for the planned no-stopping zone
• Start and end date of the desired restriction
• Justification for why the no-stopping zone is necessary

The minimum fee is € 21 depending on the size and duration of the zone. Processing time (Bearbeitungszeit) is 4 to 6 weeks after your application is received. You'll receive the traffic order (Anordnung) from the Road Traffic Authority by email or post. These factors influence the fee amount:

• Length of the no-stopping zone in meters
• Duration of the restriction (days or weeks)
• Location of the zone (main street or side street)
• Effort required to review the application

You must arrange the traffic signs separately through a construction site security company. These costs are not included in the authority fee and vary by provider.

The Road Traffic Authority only issues the traffic order for the no-stopping zone. You must arrange and install the traffic signs yourself through a specialized company. The signs must be in place 72 hours before they become valid. Important rules for the signs:

• Use traffic signs 283 or 286 according to Road Traffic Regulations (StVO)
• Install signs at least 72 hours before the restriction begins
• Attach additional signs with date and time
• Remove all signs after the restriction ends

Construction site security companies handle installing and collecting the traffic signs. They need the official traffic order from the Road Traffic Authority as proof. Without this order, installing the signs is not legally valid.

A no-stopping zone makes sense when you want to park a moving truck directly in front of your building. Without a no-stopping zone, you can't guarantee that parking spaces will be available for the moving truck. Plan at least 6 to 8 weeks lead time for your application. For a normal move, a zone of 15 to 20 meters is usually sufficient. Larger moves or multiple vehicles need more space on the street accordingly. Apply for the no-stopping zone for the entire moving day plus one buffer day for unexpected delays. Alternatively, you can check if your moving company already has experience with no-stopping zone applications. Many professional moving companies take on this task for an additional fee for their customers.
