Nuremberg's city council adopted the municipal heat plan early on 4 June 2025, one year before the federal deadline. The plan's goal: to increase the share of district heating in heat supply from around 25 per cent today to 50 per cent in 2040.
Bavaria no longer has its own state funding. However, Nuremberg property owners benefit from the N-ERGIE CO2 reduction programme and a special electricity tariff for heat pumps.
