Processing Time and Deadlines

Installing Signs

The no-stopping zone signs must be in place at least 3 full days before the zone takes effect. That means at least 72 hours before the move. You may not install the signs yourself. Only the Bauhof (municipal works) or certified professional companies are permitted to install signs. The company must be able to demonstrate their professional qualification.

Important: Document all licence plates of vehicles parked in the zone. If signs are installed too late, you will bear the towing costs.

Submitting the Application

You can apply in person or in writing. An informal application is possible. You can also apply online via service-bw.de. A PDF application form is available for download.

Required Information

Provide your first and last name, your old and new address, and your phone number. State the purpose as carrying out a move (Durchfuehrung eines Umzugs). Specify the date for the no-stopping zone, the time period, and the area including street name and house number. Indicate the required zone length based on your moving vehicle size. A sketch can be helpful.

Legal Basis

The legal basis is Section 45 of the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO, Strassenverkehrsordnung). The official term is Parkplatzabsperrung or Halteverbotszone (parking block or no-stopping zone). All information is provided without guarantee.

Apply Yourself or Hire a Service Provider
