An in-person appointment is possible by prior arrangement.

Submitting an application

The application must be submitted no later than two weeks before the removal date to the Straßenverkehrsamt.

Official information and forms

Details for the application

The application should contain the following information:

  • Name and contact details of the applicant
  • Removal address
  • Date and time period of the removal
  • exact location of the requested no-stopping zone
  • affected side of the road
  • required length of the zone
  • Sketch or site plan
  • Reason: removal

Deadlines for putting up signs

The no-stopping signs must be put up three full calendar days before the removal so that the no-stopping zone becomes legally effective.

The day the signs are erected and the first day of validity are not counted.

Evidence list when putting them up

When putting up the signs, an evidence list must be drawn up. It contains the registration numbers of the vehicles that are already parked in the no-stopping zone at that time.

The evidence list should be kept on site together with the traffic order. It serves as proof of which vehicles were already there when the signs were put up and which were only parked afterwards.

If the zone is still occupied

Vehicles must not be removed or blocked by yourself.

Have the following documents ready:

  • traffic order
  • evidence list
  • Proof that the signs were put up correctly

Then contact the Verkehrssicherheitstelefon des Straßenverkehrsamts:

069 212-36360

From there, a patrol will be requested within the limits of staffing.

Fees

The specific administrative fee is based on the current fee schedule of the Straßenverkehrsamt.

In the event of a postponement or extension, an additional fee of 50 percent of the original traffic order may also be charged.

Costs for hiring signs, putting them up and collecting them by a private service provider are additional.

Special cases

Annual permit held by specialist firms

Some roadworks safety or removals companies have an annual permit from the road traffic authority. Under certain circumstances, these companies can set up no-stopping zones without the regular individual permit procedure.

Existing permanent no-stopping zone

If a permanent no-stopping or no-parking restriction is already in place at the removal address, in justified exceptional cases a separate exemption permit for the loading or stopping time may be possible. This is a different procedure from setting up a temporary no-stopping zone.
