Responsibility
For a temporary no-stopping zone in connection with a house move, in Bremen the Polizei Bremen responsible. It processes the traffic order for putting up the no-stopping signs and any exemption permit required for parking in the temporary no-stopping zone.
Excluded are removals in pedestrian zones. Special responsibilities and procedures apply to these.
The Amt für Straßen und Verkehr is responsible for other road traffic law procedures, but is not the first port of call for the exemption permit for a home move.

The fully completed form is sent to the responsible central mailbox of the traffic casework unit of Polizei Bremen. Which mailbox is responsible follows from the information provided by Polizei Bremen or from the form.

The required details follow from the Bremen removal form. For complete processing, you should in particular provide the following:

Sketch or site plan
Attach a sketch or site plan. This should clearly show the exact location, the side of the road and the required length of the no-stopping zone.
Vehicle details
If this is required to assess the area needed:
- Type of vehicle
- Vehicle length
- any further dimensions, if applicable
Special use
If public road space is also to be used for a container, scaffolding, site set-up or other objects, a separate special-use procedure is required for this.
The no-stopping order alone does not automatically permit this additional use.

Additional documents and fees may be required for the special use.
Processing time and deadlines
- You should submit the application at least two weeks before the move.
- If documents are missing or there are special local conditions, processing may take longer.
- The no-stopping signs must be put up no later than 72 hours before the start of the no-stopping restriction. It is advisable to put them up four days in advance.
Signage
You can procure and put up the signs yourself, hire them, or have them put up by a private provider.
Document the installation with photos as well as the date and time. After the approved period has expired, the signs must be removed.
Process
- Check whether the removal vehicle can be parked normally at the removal location.
- Complete the official Bremen form and include the required details and, if applicable, a sketch.
- Send the application to the responsible central mailbox of the traffic casework unit of Polizei Bremen.
- Wait for the traffic order and, if applicable, the exemption permit.
- Put up the no-stopping signs in good time and document the installation.
- Carry out the move within the approved period.
- Remove the signs after the permit expires.
Sundays and public holidays
Home moves are generally prohibited in Bremen on Sundays and Bremen public holidays. Special rules apply to moves in pedestrian zones.
Fees
The binding official fee is set by the responsible office and follows from the fee notice.
As a non-binding guideline, the current Bremen information mentions around 30–70 € . The actual fee may vary depending on the scope of the permit.
Costs for hiring, installing and collecting the signs by a private provider are additional.
