Submitting the application

For a no-stopping zone for a house move, you need an exemption permit for the public road space.

The application can be submitted by email, by post or in person. It is not possible to apply by telephone.

Send the application by email to genehmigungen.verkehr@duesseldorf.de or submit it by post or in person to the Amt für Verkehrsmanagement.

Information for the application

The application should contain the following details:

  • Name of the applicant
  • Address with street and house number
  • Installation location
  • local area of validity of the no-stopping zone:
    • carriageway or
    • hard shoulder
  • Day of the week
  • Start and end with time

Example: Monday, 7:00–17:00.

Lead time and fees

  • With a lead time of at least 14 Tagen the administrative fee is 35,00 €.
  • With a lead time of 2 to 13 Tagen the express fee is 70,00 €.
  • Submitting an application with less than two working days for the authority’ lead time is not possible.

Signage

The approved no-stopping signs must be put up at least three full days or 72 hours before the start of the no-stopping zone.

The City of Düsseldorf does not put up the signs itself. You can hire them from a removals company or a roadworks service company, or have them put up.

Document the installation with photos as well as the date and time. After the approved period has expired, the signs must be removed.

Further permits

Additional or other permits may be required for the following cases:

  • Parking on the pavement
  • Driving into a pedestrian zone outside the permitted delivery times
  • other uses of public road space
  • Containers, scaffolding or other objects in the road space

If the zone is still occupied

Vehicles must not be removed or blocked by yourself. Keep the permit and proof of correct signage to hand, and contact the Ordnungsamt or the police.

Unclear information

If the information on the place where the signs are to be put up or on the local scope of validity is unclear, an on-site appointment may be required.

Additional costs

The costs for hiring, putting up and collecting the no-stopping signs by a private provider are incurred in addition to the administrative fee.
