Prerequisites

1. Hunter's Examination passed, Proof via examination certificate
2. Minimum age 18 years, For the full hunting license (youth hunting license from age 16)
3. Reliability, Clean police clearance certificate
4. Personal suitability, No physical or mental impairments
5. Hunting liability insurance, Minimum coverage 500,000 EUR

• Hunter's Examination certificate (original or certified copy)
• Proof of hunting liability insurance
• Police clearance certificate (no older than 3 months)
• Identity card or passport
• 2 current passport photos (biometric)
• Completed application form

Processing Time

Processing typically takes 2-4 weeks. With complete documents, it may be faster.

Special Features in Berlin

• No mandatory training: In Berlin, you can sit the Hunter's Examination directly without completing a course beforehand
• Appointment required from 2026: In-person visits only by appointment
• Combined with firearms possession permit: If applying for a firearms possession permit (WBK) at the same time, processing may take longer
