Thuringia

What is different in Thuringia

In Thuringia, nationwide rules apply to energy advisers and funding. Thüringer Aufbaubank (TAB) supplements KfW programmes with its own loans and grants. ThEGA (Thüringer Energie- und GreenTech-Agentur) provides impartial advice on refurbishment and renewables.

See also: Federal programmes. BAFA EBW (energy advice for residential buildings), BEG construction support, the iSFP bonus and KfW 458 apply in Thuringia without restriction. State programmes operate in addition.

State funding Thuringia

See also: Federal programmes. For private individuals, BAFA and KfW (BEG) are the main route in Thuringia. Independent state grants for private solar, storage or refurbishment projects are currently restricted.

The former grant programme "Solar Invest" (photovoltaics, storage, wallbox) expired on 31.12.2022. To date, there is no direct successor programme for private PV systems. The Umweltministerium is considering a new edition focused on façade photovoltaics. However, the ministry has not yet confirmed these plans.

See also: Nationwide basis. Without a state programme, only federal routes remain for private individuals: KfW loan 270 and the nationwide VAT exemption for PV systems. Details belong in the nationwide basis, not in this document.

Individual municipalities such as Erfurt or Jena also offer local grants. These change quickly.

TAB's "Klima Invest" funding programme was aimed exclusively at municipalities, associations of municipalities, districts, special-purpose associations, non-profit organisations and municipal companies. Private individuals were never eligible for funding. The guideline also expired on 31.03.2024. New applications have not been possible since then.
