Solar installation – Brandenburg
Legal basis
- EEG 2023 – feed-in tariff and funding (federal level)
- Solarspitzengesetz – mandatory smart meter and control unit for new installations from 7 kWp (since 25.02.2025); without a control unit, the grid operator permanently limits feed-in to 60 % of installed capacity
- Brandenburgische Bauordnung – so far, a solar obligation for new public/commercial buildings; currently being repealed (as of 07/2026)
RECOMMENDED PROVIDERS
Solar obligation in Brandenburg
No solar obligation applies or has applied to private residential buildings – neither for new construction nor roof refurbishment or property purchase.
For new public and commercial buildings with at least 50 m² roof area, an obligation previously applied: at least half of the roof area had to be covered with PV or solar thermal panels. In May 2026, the red-black state government submitted a new building regulation that removes this obligation for public and commercial buildings. The Landtag was due to adopt the amendment at second reading in June 2026, but the final completion of the procedure had not most recently been conclusively confirmed (as of 07/2026). Private owners were never affected by this rule.
