2. Specialist company approval (high risk)
Required for demolition and remediation work on loosely bound asbestos (friable).
Apply to LAV, Dezernat 54 (Gewerbeaufsicht). Submit by post or email to lav-gasued@sachsen-anhalt.de.
Documents:
- Evidence of technical equipment in accordance with TRGS 519, Anlage 8
- Evidence of a competent person (valid certificate of competence)
- Evidence of the employer's reliability
- Evidence of employees' occupational medical examinations
- Risk assessment
Fees: The approval fee depends on the work involved; no fixed flat rate is publicly stated.
3. A Notification requirement
All commercial activities involving asbestos require notification.

The approval notice is subject to a fee.
4. Disposal
Small quantities (households / small businesses): the districts and independent cities are responsible through their municipal waste management services.
Larger quantities (specialist companies): approved specialist waste-disposal companies with a consignment note (AVV 17 06 01*). Saxony-Anhalt maintains its own list of approved landfill sites for construction and demolition waste containing asbestos at the Landesverwaltungsamt. Landfill class I accepts firmly bound asbestos. Landfill class III or a special landfill accepts loosely bound asbestos.

5. Special features
- LAV as a special authority: Saxony-Anhalt has combined occupational safety and consumer protection in one state office, similar to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
- Approval by email or post: Saxony-Anhalt explicitly states that applicants can submit their applications by email or post without a personal appointment.
- Landfill list: Saxony-Anhalt maintains its own list of approved disposal facilities for asbestos-containing waste.
