Overview

Balcony solar systems are small photovoltaic systems that plug into a socket. They are also called Steckersolargeräte or mini PV systems. The municipality of Hiddenhausen in the Herford district supports their purchase through its “Spar mit Solar” programme.

Funding in Hiddenhausen

The municipality of Hiddenhausen supports balcony solar systems through the “Spar mit Solar” programme. The funding guidelines have applied in their current version since 2 October 2024.

Owners and tenants of buildings in Hiddenhausen are eligible if the building is used predominantly for residential purposes. The written application must be received by the municipal administration before purchase. Retrospective funding is not provided. The municipality only pays within the available budget.

After installation, submit the invoice, the grid operator's registration confirmation and the registration confirmation from the Marktstammdatenregister to the municipality. The municipality then pays the funding.

State and federal funding

North Rhine-Westphalia had a state programme for solar systems called progres.nrw. The state has since discontinued this programme. The zero VAT rate for private photovoltaic systems has applied nationwide since January 2023. Tenants' rights

Under § 554 BGB, tenants have a right to install a plug-in solar device. Landlords may not impose a blanket ban on installation. They may set reasonable conditions, for example on the type of mounting. Tenants can also apply for Hiddenhausen funding.

Registration with the grid operator

The grid operator in the Hiddenhausen area is Westfalen Weser Netz GmbH. Since Solarpaket I, separate registration with the grid operator is no longer required. The grid operator receives the information automatically through the Marktstammdatenregister.
