Overview

Balcony power plants are small photovoltaic systems that plug into a socket. They are also called plug-in solar devices or mini PV systems. Stadt Wunstorf supports them with a flat-rate grant.

Funding in Wunstorf

The budget is 20.000 EUR and is sufficient for around 80 A systems, while funds are available. Eligible applicants are owners who operate the system themselves at their residential building. Funding applies retrospectively to systems from 1 January 2023.

Submit the application after installation, not before. Required documents are the application form, registration confirmation from the Marktstammdatenregister, confirmation from the grid operator, the invoice and a photo of the installed system.

Local providers

State and federal funding

Lower Saxony does not have its own state programme for balcony power plants. Since January 2023, the zero VAT rate has applied nationwide to private photovoltaic systems. Tenants' rights

Under § 554 BGB, tenants are entitled to install a plug-in solar device. Landlords may not impose a blanket ban on installation. They may set reasonable conditions, for example regarding the type of mounting. However, municipal funding is available only to owners.

Registration with the grid operator

The grid operator in Wunstorf is Stadtwerke Wunstorf GmbH & Co. KG. Since Solarpaket I, separate registration with the grid operator is no longer required. The grid operator receives the information automatically via the Marktstammdatenregister.
