Balcony solar systems are small photovoltaic systems that plug into a socket. They are also called Steckersolargeräte or mini PV systems. In Homburg, there is no municipal funding; instead, Stadtwerke Homburg GmbH offers a bonus.

Customers of Stadtwerke Homburg with a binding three-year electricity supply contract from the Stadtwerke are eligible to apply. The system may have a maximum inverter output of 800 W watts.

State and federal funding

Saarland has no dedicated state programme for balcony power systems. Since January 2023, the zero VAT rate has applied nationwide to private photovoltaic systems. Tenants' rights

Under § 554 BGB, tenants are entitled to install a plug-in solar device. Landlords may not impose a blanket ban on installation. They may set reasonable conditions, for example on the type of mounting.

Registration with the grid operator

The grid operator in Homburg is Stadtwerke Homburg GmbH itself. Since Solarpaket I, separate registration with the grid operator is no longer required. The grid operator receives the information automatically via the Marktstammdatenregister.
