Overview

Balcony solar systems are small photovoltaic systems for plug sockets. They are also called plug-in solar devices or mini PV systems. In St. Ingbert, there is no municipal funding, but there is a funding programme from Stadtwerke St. Ingbert GmbH.

Funding in St. Ingbert

The 2026 funding programme applies from 1 January to 31 December 2026. A. Eligible applicants are customers who obtain electricity and natural gas exclusively through a special contract with Stadtwerke St. Ingbert and commit for two years. An approved installer must register the system; you must also submit the invoice. If you terminate the supply contract early, you repay the grant proportionately.

State and federal funding

Saarland has no state-level programme of its own for balcony solar systems. Since January 2023, the zero VAT rate has applied nationwide to private photovoltaic systems. Tenants' rights

Under § 554 BGB, tenants are entitled to install a plug-in solar device. Landlords may not impose a blanket ban on installation. They may set reasonable conditions, for example concerning the type of mounting.

Registration with the grid operator

The grid operator in St. Ingbert is Stadtwerke St. Ingbert GmbH itself. Since Solarpaket I, separate registration with the grid operator is no longer required. The grid operator receives the information automatically through the Marktstammdatenregister.
