Overview

Balcony solar systems are small photovoltaic systems for plug sockets. They are also called plug-in solar devices or mini PV systems. Moosburg an der Isar continues to fund their purchase, although the city discontinued most other municipal funding programmes at the end of 2024.

Funding in Moosburg an der Isar

The City of Moosburg funds plug-in solar devices through the Förderprogramm für Solarstrom und Photovoltaik. Funding for balcony modules remained in place when the city council discontinued the other municipal funding programmes for budgetary reasons at the end of 2024.

Requirements: The installation site is in Moosburg. The application must be received within six months of commissioning. Required documents are the completed application, invoice, the grid operator’s registration confirmation and the registration confirmation from the Marktstammdatenregister.

The city awards funding on a first-come, first-served basis, based on the date of receipt. There is no legal entitlement, and funding is limited.

State and federal funding

The Free State of Bavaria has no dedicated state programme for balcony solar systems. Nationwide, the zero VAT rate for private photovoltaic systems has applied since January 2023. Tenants’ rights

Under § 554 BGB, tenants are entitled to install a plug-in solar device. Landlords may not impose a blanket ban on installation. They may impose reasonable conditions, for example concerning the type of mounting.

Registration with the grid operator

The grid operator in the Moosburg an der Isar area is Bayernwerk Netz GmbH. Since Solarpaket I, separate registration with the grid operator is no longer required. The grid operator receives the information automatically via the Marktstammdatenregister.
